RUKUNGIRI – The Forum for Democratic Change FDC Electoral Commissioner for Rukungiri District is dead.
Godfrey Katunguuka according to sources inside the party corridors passed on last night at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where he has been receiving treatment.

Unlike others who have died of COVID-19 related illness, Katunguka died a natural death that resulted from Cancer of the throat.

Caleb Musiimenta the Forum for Democratic Change Rukungiri District Administrator told this reporter that Katunguka took over the district Electoral Commission office in 2006.

“Members in the struggle we have lost our member in the struggle also the chairman electoral commission FDC Rukungiri Mr Godfrey Katunguka in Mbarara just few minutes ago, so we need prayers” Caleb told our reporter.

Aliban Rukundo the former Western Region youths Parliamentary Aspirant and Perez Rumanzi the former Ntungamo Municipality Parliamentary candidate all members of the FDC eulogised the deceased as a straight forward, jolly insightful leader.

“RIP Uncle God Katunguka, may the Angels receive you and judge you fairly. You lived a straight forward life, you were Jolly and insightful. Your brand shall live on. I wished for a longer life for you but God has chosen to take you during this bad time when you have not completed your mission to remove the dictator. RIP” Rumanzi posted on his social networks.

A tentative program from the party indicates that Katunguka will be laid to rest on Tuesday at his ancestral home in Rwakabengo ward, Southern Division in Rukungiri Municipality
