Government Warns Social Media Users Against Declaring Museveni Dead

The Ugandan government has taken a step and warned Ugandans who are spreading fake news of the death of President of Uganda, Yoweri Kagguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni through Social Media to stop immediately.

The alleged fake news started to appear last week on social media (twitter) informing Ugandans that the president was in critical condition and was flown to Germany for treatment under supervision of his European based Sister, Dr. Violet Kajubiri.

Earlier this week, the same " fake news" have been making rounds on Social Media indicating that the head of state had died and the government is silent about the death of their boss since they have not informed the country officially about his state of health.

However yesterday, the government through the minister of Information, Dr Chris Baryomunsi while addressing a press conference at the National Media Center warned Ugandans from declaring the head of state dead.

Baryomunsi informed the nation that the president is in good health and he has always appeared live on TV officiating some projects like the one he officiated with the Deputy President of Kenya, William Ruto.

He also said that earlier this week, Museveni appeared in a Cabinet meeting with cabinet minsters and he was in good health and he wondered where those announcing him dead get the information from.

" I wonder where they got the idea of this fake news, " the president has even showed up in Matugga on Tuesday for the MoH project, and has officiated many other government programs and in all these, he has appeared live on TV and physically. " Baryomunsi said.

The minister also went on and advised Ugandans to desist from following such fake news and also warned those who formulate and spread such news to stop with immediate effect or else they are to be looked for by the government and dealt with accordingly.
