DANGER TO THEMSELVES: Drunkards Kills Colleague In Kitgum
It is alleged that on December 26, 2021, while hanging out at a drinking joint in Lamuku Village, Ocetoke parish in Layamo sub-county, 56-year-old David Onek Kacuc, who is now deceased, Roland Opiyo, 27, suspect and Felix Ocen another suspect, got into a fight at the drinking joint.
The LCIII chairperson of Layamo sub-county, Thomas Ayella Situma, says Ocen and Opiyo, all from Pagen West Village beat up Onek for having a taste of their drink, without permission. After the fight, Onek went back to his home where he stays alone, but his condition worsened on January 1, a day before he passed on.
According to Ayella, when news came that the condition of the victim was worsening, the father to one of the suspects advised him to report the matter to Layamo police outpost, where he was given a letter to seek medical help at Kitgum General Hospital.
“Medical examination showed that he had a contusion in his lung and he was admitted at the government hospital, where he died on the night of January 2,” Ayella said, adding that one of the suspects, Opiyo, was immediately arrested while Ocen was handed over to police by the father.
He condemned the community for engaging in a wasteful lifestyle during festivities and advised the community against any harboring any thoughts of revenge attacks.
When contacted the police spokesperson for Aswa River Region, David Ongom Mudong said he had not yet recieved the report about the incident.
