Government to Impose Second Lock-Down News24May 26, 2021 The Ministry of health permanent secretary Dr Diana Atwine has warned that with the rising COVID-19 cases, some areas need to be urgently locked down if the COVID-19 second wave is to be contained. “It cannot be ruled out because for us life comes first, if the public has refused to take the measures in place, I think a lockdown is a way to go, some areas must be locked down unless people really get to observing SOPs otherwise we shall get overwhelmed,” said Dr Atwine. National News Journalists remanded to Kitalya over DOTT services DRC Roads Scandal By   Alphonse Akankwasa   May 30, 2021 KAMPALA – Two Ugandan Online journalists Pidson Kareire, Editor at Online Drone Media and Mr Darious Magara of East Africanwatch Net, were on Thursday,  27th May remanded to Kitalya Prison over Criminal Libel at Buganda road Chief Magistrates Court. According to Police, the arrest is a culmination of investigations on the two journalists. This also follows complaint by Mr Pidson Kareire to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions ( DPP) over confiscation of his smart mobile phone for over a month by the CID officers.  The Police sats they were holding the phone to help them as they carried out some investigations. But last week, the DPP’s office directed the CID office at Kibuli to return Mr Kareire’s mobile phone. 700 new virus cases confirmed ahead of Museveni address today

Only 577, 036 people have so far been vaccinated with a total of 1,100,350 virus tests conducted since March last year. Budding TV reporter dies hours after giving birth MONDAY MAY 17 2021           The media fraternity in Uganda is mourning a budding television reporter who died on Monday, hours after giving birth. Sheila Nakabuye, 32, was pronounced dead by doctors at Mbarara Regional Referral hospital at around 8am. According to friends and family members, the NBS TV's south western Uganda bureau chief gave birth to a baby girl on Saturday through a C-section at Cedus Clinic in Rwebikoona Mbarara where she had been admitted. However, she got seizures and went into a coma forcing her family members to transfer her to Mbarara regional referral hospital at around 11am on Sunday. Panic in Bududa as unknown assailants behead 58-year-old woman

KACERI TV Ug The police in Bududa district are searching for assailants who brutally beheaded a 58-year-Old Business woman.  Hilary Nuwahereza the Bududa District police commander identified the deceased as Clementia Kituyi is a resident of Buloli cell, Buloli ward Bududa town council in Bududa district.      The deceased’s naked body was found in a pool of blood on Sunday evening at her home with soap and water in a basin for bathing.  The body was first spotted by a community member who had gone to buy fruit at her home.    According to Moses Wekoye the local council one chairperson, the incident is the first in town and has left them shocked because the deceased has been a good woman Nuwahereza says the incident was unfortunate and they have arrested suspects in the murder while investigations are going on.  The deceased’s body has been conveyed to Bududa hospital for post mortem.   Man jailed 18 years for killing woman and her 2-year-old child The High Court in Lira has sentenced a 21-year-old man to 18 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to killing a woman and her 2-year-old child following a land dispute in Aromo Sub County, Lira District.  The convict Alex Ocen and his nine accomplices appeared before the court on Wednesday for sentencing after opting for a plea bargain.  Ocen, who faced counts of attempted murder, murder, and arson, was convicted on his own plea of guilt.  Court heard that the convict and nine others still on remand with malice aforethought murdered Ketty Akwero, 41, and her child, Dolly Akullo in March 2020.  Court also heard that the accused persons attempted to murder Mr Tonny Ayo Akwar, a relative to the deceased, and later burnt three huts including property that was inside.  A postmortem report about the deceased and her daughter presented before the court revealed they died from several injuries inflicted on them.
