Govt releases list of beneficiaries of Covid relief cash.

Police officer shoots another Ugandan dead while enforcing curfew.

Police in Butalejja has confirmed the arrest of one of their own officers for shooting dead a 12-year-old girl and injuring another person while enforcing curfew, one of the guidelines announced by the President to fight the surging spread of Covid-19 in Uganda. The deceased has been identified as Ester Nangula Ester, 12, a resident of Namuseru zone in Mazimasa sub-county, Butalejja district. The shooting occurred at Nampologoma trading center where the victim had allegedly gone to buy a chapati from a nearby stall. This follows another communication from several government officials who revealed that all persons who have ever received UGX 500,000 and above on their phones are not considered vulnerable. Covid-19 kills 14 in one day FRIDAY JUNE 11 2021       By Alphonse Akankwasa More by this Author Uganda has registered 14 deaths in just one day, according to data released on June 9, bringing the total number of deaths to 402. This is the highest number of Covid-19 deaths registered as of last evening. Ministry of Health data shows the country had by Friday morning cumulatively recorded 56,949 Covid-19 cases with at least 784 patients admitted to hospitals across the country. From June 1 to June 10, a total of 38 Covid-19 deaths were registered and over 8,273 confirmed new cases. However, health experts have urged the public to observe Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to avert the spread of the pandemic as most health facilities are full to capacity. In a short interview on phone with Kagadi Hospital medical Superintendent Dr. Gregory Kaijamurubi told KBS radio that all the two patients are health workers t Kagadi general Hospital.
