Heartless! One Dead, Eight Other Family Members Hospitalised After Eating Poisoned Food

Police has launched investigations into circumstances under which an unknown person poured poison into porridge that left one person dead and 8 others admitted to Mityana general hospital in critical condition.

According to the Criminal Investigations Division spokesperson, Charles Twine, the incident happened at Nkywamazi village, Bukuya town council in Kassanda district when family members left porridge on the charcoal stove to go to the garden and on return they took the porridge.

It is alleged that a few minutes later, family members started vomiting but Moses Jesere, the head of the family died on the spot while the community members rushed the other families to hospital where they are receiving treatment.

Twine identified the victims as Sarah Namuyaba 40 years and is the wife to Jesere , Simon Karunda 18,Lillian Nabuma 17, Edson Mulema 16,Grace Nantaba 12,Sarah Namuyaba 9,Cathy Nabukime 7 and Alfa Yelemiya 4.

The CID spokesperson added that one suspect has been arrested to help police investigations whereas samples from the porridge have been taken to the Government Analytical Laboratory for tests.

  Parents block Kasokero P/S HM from accessing school premises over drunkenness 10th Jan,2022 Kagadi As schools reopened today across the country, Parents of Kasokero government aided Primary school in Kyenzige town council Kagadi district blocked the school head teacher from accessing the school premises accusing him of incompetence. Parents accuse Peace Tumwine of being a drunkard thus neglecting school duties. The situation was brought to calm by the Kagadi District Education Officer who asked parents to put their concern into writing demanding for transfer of the head teacher.
